okay so she's not a true Harajuku.. more of your "not so average" Japanese school girl but since you can be anything in the world of Harajuku I decided that would be the title. Afterall, not so sure she would be allowed in school with a skirt so short!

sorry for the big fat watermarks but my work had been lifted a lot lately and I am almost to the point of no longer posting my work online.

yes... I found a great pic of the girl but changed the hair ... it was her expression that attracted me to it.. a unique facial expression that I hadn't seen anyone paint before... I made up the clothes but looked at reference for school uniforms and then exagerated them and characterized the body to make her really curvy and pinup like.
the hands were posed by my wife and the legs are referenced from old pinups then I added teh big tube socks.
I had fun doing it.

it is a halmark of old pinups... Vargas and Petty did this... Olivia does this too... it is just kind of a pinup trait now... minimalism... a style thing.. but most likely done for deadline reasons back in the day and also to not bring the eyes down away from the ;main element which is the face... when you have a pinup with no background the outline unfinished props keep the pinup from being bottom heavy and keeps the eyes from staying at the props and shoes for too long.
